Future Room 7er's
I'm Mrs. Nicholson. I'm thrilled that you are the new students in my homeroom. You aren't only students, you are actually teachers, as I am sure I will learn lots from you. This September will be the tenth time I've got to experience "back to school" as a teacher. The excitement and nervousness is equally as present now as it was in my first year.
The summer break always seems to fly by fast. Though it's a few weeks away I wanted to welcome you to your new classroom. I want you to feel like the classroom is your space. A space that you are proud of, a space that you feel comfortable in, and a space that you protect and appreciate. I want you to think of this as a community. A community where we respect each other, reach out to those you may not have connected with normally, and treat the space and people in it with dignity.
I want you to feel like you can share ideas and opinions without the fear of being judged. I want you to explore your passions, share your personality and build upon the ideas of others. I get giddy as I wonder what you all will bring to the table, what we will achieve as individuals and as a whole class.
As your teacher I will:
This year I want you to feel the freedom to be creative. I want you to grow as problem solvers. I want you to think about how your actions affect the larger world of which we are a part. I want you to experience success, challenge, and even failure. I want you to grow and find out a little bit more about yourself. I want you to be proud of yourself. You Matter.
We are all individuals. I have curriculum to teach but my first priority is to care for you as people. Let's unite our strengths and weakness and use them to achieve something notable. Let's work together to create a year that is memorable and lasting. Lets build each other up and help each other grow. I will continue to learn through the year to hopefully become better at this whole "teacher" thing. I will do this because I care about you.
Here's to a great summer a successful transition to school in September, and an amazing unforgettable year ahead!
Mrs. Nicholson
PS - I am really anxious to hear from each one of you. The more I know about you before the school year starts, the more excited I feel and the more prepared I can be.

- Give you choices and hold you accountable for the choices you make
- Celebrate successes and learn from mistakes and failures
- Have a sense of humour
- Make the year as awesome as possible
